Gewandhausorchester Leipzig

Germany’s musical wonder electrifies the Helsinki Music Centre, lead by the star conductor, Gewandhauskapellmeister Riccardo Chailly. The estimable Gewandhausorchester is the world’s oldest still active orchestra whose expressive sound has survived unaltered through the dramatic turns of German history. The Helsinki audience will be embraced by an enchanting violin concerto with Nikolaj Znaider shining as the soloist. The second concert is dedicated to Messiaen’s lucid and Mahler’s rich ambience.
