Station House Opera: DOMINOES

The Helsinki Festival invites everyone to participate in building a giant domino route! In the large-scale game, breeze blocks dominos set one another in motion. The 10,000 falling blocks cause a chain reaction which will run around the city. The routes stretch over several kilometres and bring together the city’s streets, parks, underground stations, secret passages, public spaces and even homes into a fascinating new map of the city. The work carried out by the inhabitants’ united efforts will reach a spectacular finale on the Night of the Arts.

On the Night of the Arts the Dominoes will be making their way across central Helsinki, along the following route: Tähtitorninmäki (Observatory Hill) –Design Pavilion – Dianapuisto  – Vanhankirkon puisto – Yrjönkatu – Kamppi – Lasipalatsi – Sanomatalo (Sanoma House) – Kaisaniemen puisto (Kaisaniemi Park) – Vilhonkatu – Yliopistonkatu – Senaatintori (Senate Square)

Come and watch the event live at the Senate Square at 6 pm!

The route may change according to weather conditions.

Prior to the Night of the Arts the Dominoes will be travelling along shorter routes in Eastern Helsinki and Kallio.

The British performance company Station House Opera has previously staged Dominoes in Britain, France and Slovenia.

Dominoes is part of the Helsinki 200 Years as Capital jubilee programme.
